AC Chievo Verona see off Sassuolo

Cyril Thereau scores for AC Chievo Verona as they beat Sassuolo 1-0 in their Serie A meeting.

AC Chievo Verona have beaten Sassuolo 1-0 in their Serie A clash this afternoon.

Marcelo Estigarribia wasted a great chance to give the visitors the lead when he received the ball in the box, but the keeper managed to push his effort wide.

Chievo took the lead 10 minutes into the second half, as Cyril Thereau fired in an effort that found the bottom corner of the net.

The hosts came close to equalising in the closing stages through Antonio Floro Flores, who saw his effort from the edge of the area pushed wide by the keeper.

The win moves Chievo up to 15th in the table, above today's opponents, who are 17th.
