Sevilla cruise to victory

Sevilla coast to a 3-0 victory over Getafe which lifts them up to sixth place in La Liga.

Sevilla cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Getafe this afternoon which has moved them up to sixth place in La Liga.

Vitolo and Federico Fazio both wasted good, headed chances in the opening five minutes and Carlos Bacca blazed an 18-yard effort over the bar in the 10th minute as Sevilla penned the visitors in their own half.

Kevin Gameiro then escaped the attentions of the Getafe defence in the 18th minute, but the Frenchman's low shot cannoned back off the upright.

Vitolo eventually opened the scoring for the home side in the 34th minute when he swept the ball home following good work from Bacca.

Gameiro had a glorious opportunity to make it 2-0 before the break, but his pass to Bacca - which would have left his strike partner with the simplest of finishes - was too weak and Miguel Angel Moya was able to clear the ball.

Bacca was able to grab his ninth goal of the season with a simple finish 10 minutes after the break to double Sevilla's advantage.

Three minutes later, Adrian Colunga worked Getafe's best chance of the game when he showed good feet to skip away from two challenges before firing a shot just wide of the post.

However, Sevilla captain Ivan Rakitic wrapped up all three points in the 77th minute after a neat one-two with Bacca on the edge of the box before Marko Marin flashed a shot over the bar with the last kick of the game.
