The only goal of the half came against the run of play on 12 minutes as Andrei Finonchenko tapped in from close range following a long throw.

Celtic nearly found an equaliser 10 minutes later, but Kris Commons saw his effort crash against the crossbar.

The visitors came close again towards the end of the first period as Georgios Samaras planted his header wide from Charlie Mulgrew's free kick.
