Report: Sheffield United target Sven-Goran Eriksson

Reports suggest that Sheffield United want to speak to Sven-Goran Eriksson about the vacant managerial post at Bramall Lane.

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has emerged as a contender to take over the vacant managerial post at Sheffield United, according to a report.

The 65-year-old, who oversaw two World Cups and a European Championship campaign after taking over the Three Lions in January 2001, is currently coaching Chinese Super League team Guangzhou R&F.

According to The Mirror, Saudi Arabian Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - the League One outfit's new co-owner - is among those championing the cause of the Swede to succeed David Weir at Bramall Lane.

Eriksson has wandered through eight different jobs - including Manchester City and Leicester City - since leaving England in 2006, and is reportedly open to a move back to the country.

Meanwhile, former Derby County manager Nigel Clough, who was sacked at the end of last month, is also believed to be a target.
