Preview: Solihull Moors vs. Altrincham - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's National League clash between Solihull Moors and Altrincham, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Playoff hopefuls Solihull Moors play host to Altrincham at the Damson Park on Saturday in gameweek 27 of the 2021-22 National League season.

The hosts are looking to make it three league wins on the bounce, while the visitors seek to end a dismal run of 11 games across all competitions without a victory.

Match preview

Solihull Moors maintained their perfect record since the turn of the year courtesy of a 2-0 triumph over Torquay on Tuesday at the Plainmoor.

Second-half goals from the attacking duo of Kyle Hudlin and Andrew Dallas secured a well-deserved three points for Neal Ardley's men.

The Moors remain ninth in the league standings at the moment, outside the playoff places only on goal difference having played a game less.

Next up for them is a clash versus an opposing side who they have beaten in each of the last three encounters, including a 2-1 victory in October's reverse fixture.

With 23 goals in 13 home games this term - the third most in the division - Saturday's hosts will be looking to put on another impressive attacking display in front of their fans this weekend.

Altrincham suffered a third straight defeat of 2022 as they were beaten 2-1 by Torquay when the teams faced off at the Moss Lane on Saturday.

Phil Parkinson's men went behind as early as the sixth minute courtesy of Connor Lemonheighs-Evans's opener before hitting back through Toby Mullarkey right on the half-hour mark, only for Stephen Wearne to decide the game four minutes after the restart.

With 26 points from 25 games, the Robins are currently in 17th place, 10 points clear of danger albeit having played two games more than Weymouth in 21st.

Saturday's visitors will need to get their act back in the second half of the campaign to avoid being drawn into another frenetic battle for survival.

Team News

Kyle Hudlin came off the bench to good effect last time out as he opened the scoring, and the 21-year-old could be rewarded with a start in this one.

After netting just three times across his first 21 outings of the campaign, Andrew Dallas has scored six times in his last two matches, making him one to keep an eye on.

Joe Sbarra grabbed the winning goal in the reverse fixture and will be looking to come up trumps for his side once again.

Altrincham's Kevin Berkoe is expected to drop back to the bench for this one after he was handed a rare start last time out.

Solihull Moors possible starting lineup:
Boot; Maynard, Osborne, Rooney, Sbarra; Maycock, Gudger, Dallas, Clarke; Boyes, Ball

Altrincham possible starting lineup:
Thompson; Morgan, Moult, Mullarkey, Osborne; Mooney, Hulme, Hancock, Digie; Colclough, Marriott

SM words green background

We say: Solihull Moors 2-0 Altrincham

Altrincham have struggled at both ends of the pitch, and it is hard to see them coming away from the game with a positive result. We fancy the home team to carry the day come the end of the 90 minutes.
