Rickie Lambert wants revenge against Aston Villa

Southampton striker Rickie Lambert says that the team will be looking for revenge when they play against Aston Villa this weekend.

Rickie Lambert has said that Southampton will be looking for revenge when they play Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend.

When the teams met at St Mary's earlier in the season, Villa claimed a 3-2 win over Mauricio Pochettino's side.

The striker told the club's website: "It was one of the worst games of the season. Full credit to Aston Villa because they had three chances and scored great goals but, apart from that, we absolutely battered them.

"I don't know how they won that game, so we'll definitely be trying to reverse that on Saturday. They got under our skins because they were trying to win up one of our players and get him sent off.

"We know the situation, if we get on top of them early doors, I think it will be beneficial to us and we will put them under pressure. I'm sure their fans will be right behind them so it's very important for us to start well and knock any confidence they have."

Southampton head into the match sitting eighth in the Premier League table, six spots higher than their opponents.
