Mauricio Pochettino admits that attempting to handle Tottenham Hotspur's upcoming schedule represents "a massive challenge".

Mauricio Pochettino has acknowledged that he may find it difficult to balance his team selections for Tottenham Hotspur's upcoming matches.

Wednesday's Champions League fixture with PSV Eindhoven will mark the start of a six-game spell over the next two-and-a-half weeks, with Spurs also being left to play three matches in six days next week.

The short gap between games is partly due to the unavailability of the club's new stadium, and Pochettino has admitted that managing the schedule could prove to be "a massive challenge".

At a press conference, the Argentine told reporters: "I think it's a big challenge for different reasons. Of course I think it's natural for us to try to put all our power and all our quality to try to manage in the best way.

"The situations that happen in the summer with the World Cup with not too much holidays and then you start to compete. For us it's a massive, massive challenge because all the things that happened in the start of the season are different to the start of the last one."

Pochettino is also having to contend with a number of minor injury issues, and defender Jan Vertonghen has been ruled out until December.
