Gylfi Sigurdsson pleased with opening win

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson believes that his side will benefit from their comfortable 3-0 victory over Tromso in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Tottenham Hotspur Gylfi Sigurdsson has insisted that the club's players will benefit from easing to a 3-0 victory over Tromso in the Europa League.

Spurs netted twice in the opening 45 minutes before Christian Eriksen netted a third late in the game, and Sigurdsson was happy that they weren't tested by their Norwegian opponents.

The 24-year-old told UEFA.com: "Three points already – that's a positive thing. I think that the other team never really got going in the game, and that's maybe a good thing, because there's a lot of games coming up.

"We managed to get those two goals in the first half so that really killed their chances in the game, and it was easier in the second half."

Spurs are scheduled to play twice in five days, with a Premier League trip to Cardiff City coming up on Sunday before they face Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday evening.
