Belgium pair Vincent Kompany, Mousa Dembele ruled out of Estonia clash

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez confirms that Vincent Kompany and Mousa Dembele will miss Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Estonia.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Vincent Kompany and Mousa Dembele will play no part in Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Estonia.

There were already doubts over Kompany's fitness after he withdrew from the Belgium lineup just minutes before his side's 1-1 draw with the Netherlands on Wednesday night.

The Manchester City defender was down to start the game, but he decided to pull out of the team after feeling discomfort during the warm-up.

Martinez insisted that Kompany had not suffered an injury and his decision to withdraw was a precaution, but as a result, he will also miss this weekend's action.

The 30-year-old has struggled with injury problems over the past 12 months and is yet to complete a full 90 minutes for his club this season.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dembele, who has made just four Premier League appearances this season due to injury, will also be absent from the qualifier at King Baudouin Stadium.

Both Kompany and Dembele trained independently from the team, while Thomas Meunier, Steven Defour and Axel Witsel also trained alone this morning.

Belgium are currently at the top of Group H, level on points with second-placed Greece.
