Darren Anderton backs Tottenham Hotspur to end poor North London derby run

Darren Anderton tells Sports Mole that "there is absolutely no reason why" Tottenham Hotspur cannot get the better of Arsenal this afternoon.

Darren Anderton believes that Tottenham Hotspur will be confident of ending their winless North London derby run when they play host to rivals Arsenal this afternoon.

Spurs are without a victory in their last four meetings with the Gunners - a sequence of results that dates back to March 2013 when Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon were among the goals in a 2-1 win.

However, with Mauricio Pochettino's men currently on a six-match unbeaten run at White Hart Lane, Anderton has insisted that "there is absolutely no reason why they cannot get a positive result" from this encounter.

"They have a good chance. They had a great result against Chelsea at home and that was probably the biggest match of the season so far. Arsenal is the big one, though, and form can go out of the window," the former Spurs midfielder told Sports Mole.

"However, with the way that the players are playing with confidence - the likes of Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane - there is absolutely no reason why they cannot get a positive result. These games can go either way, but I'm sure that Spurs have every confidence that they can break the rot."

Spurs, who are currently in sixth, would leapfrog Arsenal were they to get the better of Arsene Wenger's side.
