Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte urges the world to unite against "stupid people" following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has urged the world to unite against "stupid people" following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Clubs up and down the country have been coming together to protest against the conflicts in Eastern Europe after president Vladimir Putin ordered his troops into Ukraine last week.

England, Poland and the Czech Republic are among the countries planning to boycott future international matches with Russia, and Conte has claimed that it is now time to "show solidarity against stupid people."

Speaking ahead of Tottenham's FA Cup clash with Southampton, Conte said: "My opinion is that it's a very sad situation. We are in 2022 and to talk about the possibility about being at war is incredible," as quoted by football.london.

"It's incredible and at the same time it's stupid. Only to think about this. We need to have peace in the world, not people to die for this type of situation that I repeat is incredible in 2022 to have a war. War is not the answer for anything. The world has to be compact and show solidarity against stupid people."

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich - who recently relinquished his stewardship of the club - has reportedly been called for peace talks with Ukraine as Russian forces attempt to gain control of Kyiv.
