Brad Friedel rubbishes Tottenham Hotspur's 'one-man team' claims

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel calls suggestions that they are over-reliant on Gareth Bale as "ridiculous".

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel has denied that the club are over-reliant on winger Gareth Bale.

The Welshman has scored 10 goals in his last nine games for Spurs and is the team's leading scorer this season.

However, Friedel has said that although Bale is an "exceptional player", Spurs have a squad packed with quality and described suggestions that they are a one-man team as "ridiculous".

"That's ridiculous - that's a poor comment. Gareth is an exceptional player and we have a lot of exceptional players," Friedel told reporters.

"Every good team has their star players. Gareth is playing well for us. We are a better team for it, but we have some exceptional players that can step in and do the job."

Spurs travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
