Lewis Holtby plans to forget about his end-of-season disappointments with both club and country and focus on Tottenham's quest for Champions League qualification next season.

Lewis Holtby wants to put his end-of-campaign disappointments behind him and has promised Tottenham Hotspur fans that "next season is his year".

The German international narrowly missed out on a top-four finish with the Lillywhites, for whom he made just four league starts after arriving from Schalke 04 in January and has since seen the country he captains eliminated from the European Under-21 Championships at the group stage.

However, the creative midfielder is determined not to let these failures damage his positive feelings about his short time at White Hart Lane, where he plans to make a big impact next season.

"It's been a bad end to the season, but what can I do? I can't change it now," Holtby said. "I just have to think positive. Hopefully I still have a long career ahead of me.

"Sometimes you have to put things into perspective and think as a human, not just a footballer. I can't wait for next season to start. I think next season is going to be my year.

"I can't wait for pre-season to start. It will be my first pre-season in English football and I plan to give it my all. It feels as though I have been at Tottenham a lot longer than six months. It's a great club and I can't wait to try to help them into the Champions League."

Holtby cost Spurs £2.5m when he arrived from the Bundesliga in the last transfer window.
