Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino praises attitude of Davinson Sanchez

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino praises the attitude of summer signing Davinson Sanchez, who he says has impressed him since making the switch to North London.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he has been left impressed by the attitude of defender Davinson Sanchez.

Last summer, Spurs signed Sanchez from Ajax and opted to hand a long-term contract to the Colombian international, who has made 34 appearances in all competitions this season.

However, Pochettino has suggested that Sanchez has exceeded his expectations, claiming that the 21-year-old has remained "humble" and is always looking to improve himself.

At a press conference, the 46-year-old told reporters: "I think he's humble. That is a massive point for every single player to learn, and to adapt yourself into the new environment. Of course he's a player that's young but he's always trying to improve and learn.

"It surprised us because we had a lot of information about his character but I think he surprised us much better than we expected because he's always available to learn, to improve. He accepts criticism, corrections, and that for me is the most important thing.

"Of course the characteristics of the player is he's fast, he's aggressive, he plays very well with the ball, and at 21 years old I think he's showing a great maturity. But he needs to keep his feet on the grass because he's still so young and it's easy to go backwards if you don't manage in your head all this type of praise."

Spurs paid in the region of £42m to sign Sanchez, who had allegedly been interesting Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona.
