Report: American consortium planning Tottenham Hotspur takeover bid

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly the target of a takeover bid from an American consortium for the second time this year.

For the second time this year, Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been targeted by an American consortium looking to launch a takeover bid.

A group of businessmen based in California are hoping to set up a meeting with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy in the near future to discuss the possibility of beginning talks with owner Joe Lewis, according to the Evening Standard.

The report claims that Lewis would be willing to sell the club for around £502m, but the consortium, who are believed to have secured the backing of a major global private equity investor, do not agree with that valuation.

Any potential new owner would also have to commit to Tottenham's ground redevelopment project and the regeneration of the surrounding area in North London.

Investment firm Cain Hoy were linked with a takeover bid in September, but they have since withdrawn their interest.
