Bryan Ruiz admits that he would have preferred to sign for Tottenham Hotspur instead of Fulham.

Fulham attacker Bryan Ruiz has admitted that he wanted to join Tottenham Hotspur during the summer, rather than the Craven Cottage club.

The Costa Rican international has also claimed that his move to the Whites from FC Twente in August was motivated by money.

"I did not want Fulham. Previously Tottenham were interested. This is a club that you say 'yes' to. But it was never real," the 26-year-old told Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

"On August 30 Fulham arrived in the bidding. My manager called and said there was an agreement between the clubs and that we were going to London. I hesitated again, but he convinced me.

"Attractive financial terms and a conversation with Martin Jol won me over."

Earlier today, Ruiz vowed to improve his performances for Fulham.
