Tottenham Hotspur character delights Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino hails Tottenham Hotspur's "important" 2-1 victory over Swansea City this evening, which sees Spurs climb up to seventh place in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has hailed the character shown by his side to secure a late 2-1 win over Swansea City this evening.

Harry Kane had given Spurs an early lead with his 11th goal of the season, before Wilfried Bony levelled things up shortly after the half-time interval at the Liberty Stadium.

The game looked to be heading for a draw, but not for the first time this season Christian Eriksen popped up in the dying stages of the contest to fire Spurs to victory.

"We showed character, it was a difficult game because Swansea are a very good team," Pochettino told Sky Sports News. "In the second half they pushed us a little bit, but we defended well and we were always alive in the game.

"The victory is important for us. It's true that we are brave and we look forward to trying to win the points whether we are at White Hart Lane or away. Harry Kane scored again, he's still young but he has potential and he needs time to play and work hard."

Next up in the Premier League for Tottenham is a meeting with lowly Burnley at White Hart Lane.
