Hello and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of this afternoon's Premier League meeting between Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur. Both sides are in need of the points today, and we'll have team news for you shortly.

After seeing his side slump to a 3-1 defeat at West Ham United last weekend, Swansea boss Garry Monk has made just the one change for this afternoon's clash. Jazz Richards drops to the bench, while Neil Taylor returns in defence. Former Spurs midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson also starts. Nathan Dyer and Bafetimbi Gomis are among those on the bench.

TOTTENHAM: Lloris; Walker, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies; Bentaleb, Mason; Eriksen, Kane, Lamela; Soldado

Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino has brought back a number of big names after putting out a weaker side for Thursday's 1-0 defeat to Besiktas in the Europa League. Hugo Lloris returns in goal to make his 100th appearance for the club, while Federico Fazio, Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Harry Kane are all restored to the starting XI.

Right, let's get down to business. It's safe to say that Spurs have been very inconsistent so far this season, with just six wins from 15 games leaving them in 10th place in the table. Their last outing in the league came last weekend when they dropped yet more points at home with a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace. However, a victory today would lift them up to seventh position, which isn't too bad considering how they've struggled to find their best form.

While Spurs have been up and down in recent weeks, Swansea have surprised many with the strong start to the season. Garry Monk's side currently occupy eighth place in the standings and can climb up to seventh if they earn the three points this afternoon.

UPDATE! Today's early kickoff in the Premier League has just ended at Old Trafford, where Manchester United have beaten bitter rivals Liverpool 3-0 thanks to goal from Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin van Persie.

It's worth mentioning that Kyle Walker makes only his second appearance of the season for Spurs today, and his first in the Premier League, following a lengthy injury absence. The England international is sure to be welcomed back warmly by the travelling fans when he steps out onto the pitch.

Swansea boss Garry Monk on his side's defeat to West Ham last time out: "It was the first time that we didn't reach the levels we've set ourselves this season. We need to react this weekend, put on a positive performance and put to bed last weekend's display."

Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino: "We know that Swansea have made a good start to the season and have very good players, but we have confidence in our skills and we will try to get the three points.

"After three games (without a goal in the Premier League), we need to score. It has not been possible to score in the last few games, but we need to score against Swansea."

HEAD TO HEAD: It's Spurs who have the superior record when it comes to past meetings between these teams, winning 21 games compared to Swansea's seven triumphs. There have also been a total of six draws.

Tottenham have been the dominant side in recent times as well, with five consecutive wins versus the Swans. They earned a 3-1 victory in this fixture last season after winning 1-0 at White Hart Lane. Swansea's best result at home to Spurs in the Premier League era was a 1-1 draw back in 2011. Their last victory came back in 1991.

One thing that fans will be expecting this afternoon is an entertaining match. Both of these teams can turn on the style if they are allowed to, so you would think that a fairly end-to-end game could be on the cards. Of course, I could have jinxed the whole thing just then, but let's hope that's not the case.

While there is a small group of players facing their former clubs today, you have to wonder whether Gylfi Sigurdsson will be determined to prove that he could have cut the mustard at Spurs. The Icelandic midfielder spent two years at White Hart Lane before returning to the Liberty Stadium at the start of the season. He's insisted that he has no regrets about what happened to his career at Spurs, but it would not be a surprise if he is particularly pumped up this afternoon.

The teams are starting to emerge in the tunnel at the Liberty Stadium as we head closer towards kickoff. Ashley Williams stands at the front of the Swansea line, while Hugo Lloris captains the visitors today in the absence of Younes Kaboul.

KICKOFF! The players are out, the pre-match handshakes have been done, and it will be Spurs to get us underway. Here we go!

What a start for Spurs! They take the lead through Harry Kane, though Swansea should have been doing a lot better to prevent it. The visitors win a corner which is whipped in deep by Eriksen, and there's Kane to rise above his marker and nod in past Tremmel. Mauricio Pochettino couldn't have asked for a better opening for his team.

After conceding so early, Swansea look a little bit shellshocked. The hosts have struggled to get into this game so far, with Tottenham dictating the early stages. However, there's still plenty of time for them to get back into it.

CHANCE! This is better from the Swans, who are starting to look a bit more confident on the ball. Bony is slipped in behind the Spurs defence before checking back on himself. The Ivorian hits a decent drive from the edge of the box, but Lloris gets down low to keep it out. That should encourage the home side following a shaky opening.

Swansea captain Williams is lucky not to get a yellow card as he hacks away at the ball, which just so happens to be under the body of Kane on the floor. The defenders knows exactly what he's doing, though he manages to get away with it. Kane gets up in a gingerly fashion, but he looks to be okay.

YELLOW CARD! The first booking of the game goes the way of Spurs full-back Kyle Walker, who is cautioned for a deliberate handball after going to ground.

Both sides aren't doing too good a job in keeping the ball at the moment, with a fair few robust tackles thrown in to boot. A chunky 45% of the game has been played in midfield so far, while only 15% has been played in and around the Tottenham penalty area. Swansea have responded well to going behind, but they're struggling to really get at their opponents.

CHANCE! Kane looks full of confidence following his goal, and he almost grabs another with a long-range drive. The youngster takes aim from about 25 yards, but his strike flashes inches past the post. Tremmel looked worried there.

CHANCE! Now it's Swansea who come close to finding the net as Bony is slipped in by Montero, but Davies does brilliantly to deny the striker with a last-ditch tackle. That was fantastic defending from the former Swans full-back.

While the visitors have been the better side so far, there can be no denying that Swansea have had some good chances to draw level. Both have fallen to Bony and it would be a surprise if he did not have another couple of big opportunities during the remainder of this half.

SAVE! It wouldn't have counted, but Lloris denies Bony twice with a couple of fantastic point-blank saves. Rangel's cross from the right is met by Bony, who sees his first effort kept out by the Frenchman before being thwarted again seconds later. However, the flag is up for offside. Spurs were all over the place from a defensive point of view there.

Despite his side's lead, Mauricio Pochettino will be concerned by how open Tottenham are defensively. They're allowing Bony far too much space in central positions, which is encouraging the Swansea wingers to whip in some dangerous crosses into the penalty area. They're playing with fire, that's for sure.

Montero goes to ground after being struck in the face by Lamela's arm while the pair were jostling for possession. Referee Bobby Madley decides not to take any action, but Lamela could easily have picked up a yellow card for that. You could argue that the Argentine is lucky to still be on the pitch.

YELLOW CARD! Jan Vertonghen goes into the book now for a dangerous challenge on Routledge. We've seen some free-flowing attacking play so far in this match, but there's also been an aggression underpinning the action.

It's safe to say that there's not love lost between these sides. The heavy tackles continue to fly in, which means we're probably going to see a few more yellow cards before the end of the contest. In terms of possession, it's all very even at the moment. If anything, both teams seem to be cancelling each other out.

YELLOW CARD! Spurs midfielder Mason is cautioned by the referee after chopping down Britton in the centre of the pitch. The visitors wanted a penalty moments before when Kane went down with a couple of Swansea shirts around him, but it looked as if there was minimal contact. With all the talk of diving this weekend, referee Bobby Madley might even have been tempted to book the striker.

CHANCE! Bony again comes close to equalising for Swansea! Sigurdsson feeds Rangel down the right, who plays a low cross in to Bony. The striker hits it first time, but his shot is deflected wide. Routledge gets a sight of goal from the resulting corner as Spurs fail to clear their lines, though he can only hit a difficult volley over the crossbar.

There will be TWO MINUTES of added time at the end of the half...

That was a pretty entertaining first half of football at the Liberty Stadium, where Spurs lead 1-0 thanks to that early goal from Harry Kane. However, Swansea have had their chances, with Wilfried Bony failing to score with a couple of decent attempts.

While there has been plenty of bright attacking football on show, this game has also been a physical affair. Both sides have put themselves about with some fierce tackling. The conditions haven't helped when it comes to the tackling, with a few of the players sliding about in the heavy rain.

Swansea boss Garry Monk could well be telling his players to keep things as they are. The hosts have competed fiercely and have also looked dangerous going forward. However, they have sometimes been overwhelmed in midfield by Spurs.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino will be eager for his side to tighten up in defence. The visitors looked vulnerable at the back for much of that half, with Hugo Lloris coming to their rescue a number of times. That criticism aside, Spurs have performed well. They've shown a lot of intensity in midfield and attack, with the likes of Kane, Mason and Lamela always looking to get on the ball.

SECOND HALF UNDERWAY! The teams are back out for the second half, and it will be Swansea to get us up and running again. No changes from either manager during the break.

Bony gets his goal and Swansea are level! Routledge gets free down the right before crossing towards the striker, whose first effort from close range is blocked by Fazio. However, he is there to blast the rebound past Lloris and make it 1-1. Game on!

YELLOW CARD! The first booking of the second half goes to Swansea midfielder Ki, who is cautioned after clattering into Mason with a late challenge.

Confusion reigns in the Spurs box as a mistake by Fazio allows Sigurdsson to gain possession, but the Swansea midfielder slips before failing in his attempt to play in Bony. That just goes to show that the heavy rain could well decide the outcome of this game.

SWANSEA SUB: The hosts make their first change of the match as Jonjo Shelvey replaces Leon Britton.

SPURS SUB: Now it's Spurs who make a change, with Roberto Soldado being taken off for Moussa Dembele. The Spanish striker has been very disappointing this afternoon.

It's Swansea who are doing most of the pressing at the moment, while Tottenham are needing to stay focused in defence. Montero whips a corner in from the left that Ki leaps highest to reach, though he can only head over the crossbar. The visitors are still looking shaky at the back, which is sure to be of great concern for their manager.

CHANCE! How unlucky would that have been for Swansea? Mason sees his tame shot deflected on its way through to goal, but fortunately for the hosts it trickles inches wide of the post. The resulting corner comes to nothing, despite Spurs doing a good job of keeping it alive.

The away side are starting to look a bit more threatening now, with Kane in particular causing Swansea a few problems. The youngster makes a darting run down the right wing before crossing for Dembele, but Tremmel does well to come off his line and collect. It's a fairly open game at the moment. The two teams clearly sense that this game is there to be won.

CHANCE! Some patient build-up play from Swansea ends with Sigurdsson having a crack from about 20 yards, but his shot goes the wrong side of the post. We should be set for an entertaining last 25 minutes or so because this match is being played from end to end.

A few Swansea hearts are in mouths as Tremmel makes a right mess of collecting a cross, though he recovers well to ease the danger.

SPURS SUB: The visitors shake things up again as Ryan Mason is replaced by French midfielder Benjamin Stambouli. Just over 20 minutes left to play.

SWANSEA SUB: Another swap for Swansea now as Jazz Richards comes on for Angel Rangel.

Close for Swansea as a slick move sees Shelvey played in, but Vertonghen gets across to deflect the midfielder's shot wide. The hosts pile on the pressure from the resulting corner as Montero is also thwarted by the Tottenham defence before a third corner is eventually headed off target by Ki.

Following a decent spell for Spurs, it's now Swansea who are looking the more likely to score. The home side's passing move has been excellent for much of the afternoon and they're continuing to ask plenty of questions of the Tottenham defence as we head into the final 15 minutes at the Liberty Stadium.

CHANCE! Kane thinks he's scored again from a corner as he connects with Eriksen's set piece, but the youngster's effort at the near post goes inches wide. That was incredibly close.

It's so hard to tell how this game is going to finish because both sides are really pushing for a winner. It's being played at a furious pace from end to end. Mauricio Pochettino is down on the touchline, casting an eye over his players. He knows that the three points would give Tottenham's hopes of European qualification a huge boost.

YELLOW CARD! Swansea full-back Taylor is the latest name to go into the book after blocking off Walker's run down the right.

SPURS SUB: The away side make their final change of the afternoon as Nacer Chadli replaces Erik Lamela. Meanwhile, Benjamin Stambouli picks up a booking for a deliberate handball.

SWANSEA SUB: A final substitution for the hosts now, with Bafetimbi Gomis replacing Wilfried Bony, who has been excellent up front today.

Spurs have surely won it thanks to another late goal from Eriksen! Swansea fail to clear their lines as Richards's poor clearance gifts the ball straight back to the opposition. Eriksen eventually receives the ball on the edge of the box before drilling a low effort into the corner. That was a fine strike from the Dane, though Swansea really should have dealt with it better.

There will be FOUR MINUTES of injury time...

Swansea are just lumping the ball into the Spurs box at every opportunity, but the visitors are doing a good job of soaking up the pressure.

The full-time whistle goes and Spurs have the win thanks to that late strike from Christian Eriksen! The game looked as if it was heading for a draw after Wilfried Bony had cancelled out Harry Kane's opener, but up stepped the Dane to fire in another late goal for Mauricio Pochettino's men. An incredible finale.
