Gareth Bale scores a brace as Spurs produce a classy second-half display to see off Norwich at Carrow Road.

Gareth Bale's second-half brace at Carrow Road this evening cemented third place for Tottenham Hotspur for the New Year.

The Welshman struck twice in 12 minutes to give Spurs their twelfth win of the season.

It was an all-action affair, with Spurs threatening on numerous occasions while the home side looked dangerous in patches.

Bale and Emmanuel Adebayor were the most prominent for the visitors in the opening 45 minutes, forcing John Ruddy to make some neat saves.

Harry Redknapp seemed to give the North London side a lift at half time as they came out all guns blazing and soon had the lead through the menacing Bale.

Adebayor held the ball up nicely, avoiding some desperate Canaries defending before setting to Bale to slide home.

The lead was doubled midway through the half when Spurs launched another counter attack with Bale accelerating away from the yellow defence and dinking cleverly over Ruddy.

Spurs remain third, four points clear of Chelsea, and are now seven points off the pace set by the two Manchester clubs with a game in-hand while Paul Lambert's Norwich remain 11th.
