Younes Kaboul, Aaron Lennon to be used in James McCarthy bid?

Tottenham Hotspur will consider using Younes Kaboul or Aaron Lennon in a bid to sign Everton midfielder James McCarthy, according to reports.

Tottenham Hotspur will consider using Younes Kaboul or Aaron Lennon in any attempt to sign Everton midfielder James McCarthy, according to reports.

Lennon spent the second half of last season on loan at Goodison Park, while Kaboul is expected to leave Spurs this summer, and McCarthy has previously been linked with a move to Spurs.

The Irishman has become frustrated that the Toffees have not approached him about an improved contract, according to the Daily Mail, and that is likely to alert Spurs.

The report suggests that Spurs are keen to strengthen the midfield ahead of the new campaign, and with Morgan Schneiderlin set to pick Arsenal or Manchester United, they will consider launching a move for McCarthy.

It remains unclear whether Everton would listen to offers for the 24-year-old, but the offer of Kaboul or Lennon may interest Roberto Martinez, who had suggested that he is open to a permanent deal for the latter.

McCarthy has three years remaining on his current contract.
