Real Madrid: Tottenham Hotspur "dragging their feet" over Gareth Bale transfer

Real Madrid vice-president Fernando Fernandez Tapias claims that Tottenham Hotspur are holding up Gareth Bale's world-record £86m move to the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid vice-president Fernando Fernandez Tapias has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are "dragging their feet" in the ongoing Gareth Bale transfer saga.

The 24-year-old Welshman is expected to complete a world-record £86m switch to the Bernabeu before the end of the transfer window, although Fernandez Tapias said that Los Blancos hoped to have the deal tied up by now.

"I think it will happen but I cannot make any firm promises," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "We're going to wait because they are dragging their feet.

"There are a few problems but I hope they will soon be resolved. We thought that he would be with us now but as of the moment, he is not a Real Madrid player although it looks likely that he will join us."

Spurs coach Andre Villas-Boas said that Bale, who was in Marbella last week, could be fined for failing to report to training on Tuesday.
