Harry Redknapp: 'Emmanuel Adebayor must take pay cut'

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits that Manchester City's on-loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor must take a pay cut in order to remain at Spurs next season.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has admitted that Manchester City's on-loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor must take a large pay cut if he is to remain at Spurs next season.

Adebayor, 27, has struck nine goals in the league this season, but commands a salary of over £200,000 a week, a figure Spurs cannot match.

"He has done well for us. He has worked hard but he is on amazing money. The other week, one of the lads told him that he had not paid his £50 fine for being the worst player in training on a Friday morning," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"One of the lads said to him, 'Bloody hell, Ade, you are on 200 grand a week and you can't afford to pay a £50 fine!' He replied, 'Don't insult me, it's 225!' He certainly isn't going to get that here."

Spurs could move into second spot in the Premier League table with victory over Wolves on Saturday afternoon.
