Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have ambitions to tie up a deal for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin as soon as possible.
Spurs have generally impressed under head coach Ange Postecoglou since the Greek-Australian was appointed as head coach in the summer.
However, despite sitting in fifth position in the Premier League standings, the North Londoners have conceded 29 goals from their 20 league games.
On the back of having Cristian Romero sent off against Chelsea on November 6 and Micky van de Ven sustain a hamstring injury in the same game, their lack of depth in central defence was exposed.
Although Spurs initially struggled to cope with their respective absences, they have recently posted four wins from five games with the likes of Emerson Royal and Ben Davies having to deputise.

Nevertheless, it is an open secret that Spurs will look to sign a new centre-back in January, with Dragusin seemingly being preferred to Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo.
According to the Daily Mail, club officials are eager to wrap up the transfer of the Romania international later this week.
The 21-year-old only made the switch to Genoa in the summer but he has already made 18 starts in the middle of their backline, either in a back three or four.
Furthermore, his stock has been enhanced considerably through helping Romania earn a spot at Euro 2024, starting each of their 10 qualifiers this year.

Genoa are pushing hard to retain the services of Dragusin, even if it is in the short term, by being prepared to offer him a new contract just six months after he penned his first deal.
However, it is claimed that Spurs are confident of signing Dragusin - who can also deputise at right-back when required - for a fee in the region of £25m.
Dragusin is no stranger to representing a high-profile club having previously spent time with Juventus, but he was restricted to just four appearances for the Serie A giants.
Instead, loan spells were spent at Sampdoria and Salernitana before becoming a regular in senior football for the first time at Genoa, who are 12th in the Serie A table.
