Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly attempting to reduce Inter Milan's asking price for Milan Skriniar as they look to sign the centre-back before the end of this summer's transfer window.
Spurs have seemingly identified the Slovakia international as a leading defensive target, but a recent report claimed that they would have to come up with an offer of £55m in order to sign him.
The 25-year-old fell down the pecking order at San Siro in the latter stages of last season and is said to be available for the right price before the transfer deadline at the start of October.
According to the Daily Mail, the London club's chairman Daniel Levy is working to reduce the asking price and is confident of signing Skriniar for under £46m.
Spurs have recently completed deals for Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale, while the club are said to be determined to sign another striker before the deadline.
Jose Mourinho's side will be looking to record their fourth straight win in all competitions when they welcome Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
