Andros Townsend has claimed that England "could well surprise a few people" if they qualify for the 2014 World Cup finals.
The 22-year-old is in Roy Hodgson's squad for the upcoming qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland.
The Three Lions currently sit at the top of Group H, and Townsend believes that the team have a good chance of doing well in Brazil next year if they make it through to the finals.
"This England side has some great talent and the future is bright," the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
"It's now about getting the job done, getting our noses over the line and then we can prepare for the tournament itself.
"And I don't see any reason why England can't go to Brazil with a chance of doing really well. We could surprise a few people."
Despite being named in the squad, Townsend is yet to win a cap for the senior side.
