Jonathan Woodgate is closing in on a new contract at Stoke City.
The 32-year-old, who joined the club on a free transfer from Tottenham Hotspur last summer, has made 21 appearances for the Potters this season.
Four more outings will see him trigger a clause in his current deal that will see him offered a one-year extension.
Despite featuring on a regular basis this campaign, Woodgate has admitted that his performances have not always been up the scratch.
"This season has been up and down," said Woodgate. "I've been inconsistent. I'm trying to get to grips with playing right-back. Why have I struggled? I'm no right-back, am I?
"I will try my hardest to learn. I might have to look at clips of Gary Neville to see how it's done.
"The most important thing is that I'm back playing football."
Woodgate has previously played for Leeds United, Newcastle United, Real Madrid and Middlesbrough.
