Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has called on the Football Association to wait until every FA Cup match in a given round is decided before holding the draw for the next stage.
The draw for the fourth round of England's premier cup competition took place during the Black Cats' 3-1 victory over Carlisle United this afternoon, with Poyet's men paired with Kidderminster Harriers or Peterborough United.
United were holding their Premier League counterparts to a 1-1 draw at the break, and the Uruguayan believes that the motivation of Greg Abbott's men may have waned knowing that a tie with a club of low status awaited them rather than another clash with Premier League opposition.
He told reporters: "I'm just saying if the draw was a top, top team from the Premier League at home, I am sure that Carlisle in the second half, maybe it would be a little bit different.
"If you are 1-1 at half time and you get Arsenal at home and you are Carlisle, what a second half they are going to give you, that's for sure."
Adam Johnson's first-half free kick was negated by Matty Robson, before an own goal from Sean O'Hanlon and a debut strike for El Hadji Ba ensured that there was to be no 'giant killing' in the North East this afternoon.
