Chris Coleman: 'Sunderland can't rely on Lewis Grabban for goals'

Sunderland manager Chris Coleman insists that his side cannot rely on Lewis Grabban's goalscoring and must be more positive in all areas of the pitch.

Sunderland manager Chris Coleman has insisted that his side cannot rely on Lewis Grabban's goalscoring, and said that the Black Cats must be more positive in all areas of the pitch.

Grabban, who has scored 10 goals in 15 Championship games this season, has been a key figure for Coleman's side since joining on loan from Bournemouth in the summer.

Teammates James Vaughn and George Honeyman scored the club's goals in their 2-0 win over Burton Albion last weekend, but the manager is still wary of his side's dependency on Grabban's contributions.

"Lewis is offering himself to the cause by scoring goals, he keeps on scoring which is a huge positive," Coleman told the Sunderland Echo.

"What we can't do is think Lewis has got one so let's hold onto that because that's not got us very far. We've got to be more positive in every area on the pitch and start thinking more positively then.

"And then it won't just be Lewis scoring, it will be others too. And when that happens, that's when we start winning."

Sunderland, lifted off the bottom of the Championship by the win over Burton, host Reading this weekend.
