Paolo Di Canio scraps Sunderland's day off

Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio reveals that he has scrapped his players' day off on Wednesdays.

Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio has revealed that he has scrapped his players' day off on Wednesday.

Taking time off on midweek is the norm for most Premier League clubs but Di Canio feels that due to the nature of their work there's no reason why they need a day off.

He told reporters: "When I go mad, it is because we are talking about one hour and a half. On the pitch. Playing football. We are not talking about miners.

"People say you should not compare because it is different. No. You should compare.

"Wednesday is not six hours, jump up to the trees or eight hours running 300 metres, we are talking about one hour and a half of playing football."

Sunderland face off against Everton in the Premier League later today.
