Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan has said that he is “happy” to stay with the Black Cats despite rumours suggesting that he was close to a move out of the club.
The 25-year-old was the subject of speculation linking him with a transfer away from the Stadium of Light. However, the Ghana international has insisted that he wants to remain at Sunderland.
"Those rumours have disturbed me, to be honest," he told Sky Sports News.
"I do not want Sunderland fans to think I am not happy in Sunderland. I am happy with Steve Bruce who invested so much money in me and I will need to repay his faith."
Despite his commitment, the frontman admitted that interest from Premier League rival Tottenham was flattering.
"It is normal to be excited when a club such as Tottenham is interested,” he added. “However I have a contract somewhere and I intend to honour that."
Meanwhile, Sunderland clinched the signings of Spurs' Peter Crouch and Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner before the 11pm deadline yesterday (Wednesday).
