Sebastian Larsson: 'Sunderland moving in right direction'

Sebastian Larsson is confident that Sunderland are "moving in the right direction" following Saturday's 2-2 draw with West Brom.

Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson has insisted that the team is "moving in the right direction" following Saturday's 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Larsson scored a late equaliser at The Hawthorns as the Black Cats earned a share of the spoils in their Premier League opener.

"The big difference from last season, we could have lost that game 3-1 or 4-1," the Swede told BBC Sport. "Overall there are positives to take from it compared to last season and I feel we're moving in the right direction.

"I think the main thing is that there's good bits to build on, especially in the second half with what went on and going behind at a place that we've struggled at. We'll take the positives and crack on."

Sunderland play their first home match of the season this Sunday when they welcome Manchester United to the Stadium of Light.
