Martin O'Neill admits that is "disappointed" by his Sunderland's side failure to claim all three points against Manchester City.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has confessed that he was "disappointed" by his side's failure to take maximum points from their trip to Manchester City earlier today.

The visiting Black Cats led City 3-1 with just six minutes remaining at the Etihad Stadium.

However, goals from Mario Balotelli and Aleksandar Kolarov rescued a 3-3 draw for Roberto Mancini's side.

Despite seeing his team surrender their late advantage, O'Neill has described the performance that his players put in as "magnificent".

"We performed brilliantly and should have won," he told BBC Sport. "We didn't and you have to credit Manchester City.

"I'm disappointed we didn't take three points but it was a magnificent effort."

The result means that Sunderland have took four points from a possible six against Man City this season.
