Jefferson Montero has revealed that he asked Ecuador teammate Antonio Valencia for advice before deciding to join Swansea City.
The 24-year-old's move to Swansea from Mexican club Morelia was completed on Thursday, and he claimed that a glowing reference from Manchester United's winger was a factor in his decision to join Garry Monk's side.
"I was impressed by Swansea when I played against them in a friendly while I was at Real Betis. Their style is very attractive," Montero told the club's official website. "Antonio Valencia also spoke very well about the team, he said they are always a tough team to play against.
"He also told me how great the league is. Every single game is very competitive, and I'm really looking forward to playing in it."
Montero has become Swansea's sixth summer signing following the arrivals of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lukasz Fabianski, Bafetimbi Gomis, Marvin Emnes and Stephen Kingsley.
