Nathan Dyer: 'Team spirit is key to competing with Premier League's big spenders'

Swansea City winger Nathan Dyer claims that team spirit is the key to his club competing with Premier League big spenders like Manchester United and Chelsea.

Nathan Dyer has suggested that Swansea City's team spirit will help them to compete against the Premier League's big spenders.

On Saturday the South Wales side take on Manchester United, whose summer spending has topped £80m so far, but they have managed to win their last two appearances against the Red Devils.

"They have made some unbelievable signings with the money that that they have got," Dyer told reporters, referring to United. "That means it will always be tough to compete against them. But we showed against Chelsea we are more than capable of competing with those teams. The coaches and the gaffer really do their homework and make sure we are ready.

"Clubs like that will always be able to spend money. Team spirit is the key. At Swansea we have shown that through the years since we were in the Championship and what that can do for a club. We have got better and better and hopefully that can continue and we can continue competing against the likes of United.

"We have good players here who are pushing to be in the England squad. Jonjo (Shelvey), for example, has been in great form and playing really well and will be up against a couple of their new guys. We know if we do our work we can get the result."

Swansea are currently sixth in the Premier League having picked up draws away to Chelsea and Sunderland, as well as a win against Newcastle United.
