Paul Clement: 'Swansea City are evolving'

Swansea City manager Paul Clement believes that his squad is "evolving" and feels "very different" to the one from last season.

Swansea City manager Paul Clement has claimed that his squad is "evolving" and feels "very different" to the one from last season.

The Welsh outfit, who narrowly survived relegation from the Premier League in 2016-17, lost several key players in the summer, while bringing notable new recruits in.

The likes of Fernando Llorente, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jack Cork departed, but players such as Renato Sanches and Wilfried Bony came on board before deadline day.

"The team is evolving - this side feels like a very different team to last season," Clement told Sky Sports News.

"We have had quite a lot of players going out - we didn't think there would be quite so many, but that's the way it worked out.

"We have some different qualities already that we didn't have last year, and in certain areas we have lost a little bit. All the time we are trying to improve and develop as a team.

"The defensive side of things can come a little bit quicker, but offensively you need a bit more fluidity and players take time to get to know each other. We are working on it for sure."

Swansea currently sit 14th in the table following two defeats, two draws and a win.
