Jonathan de Guzman fired the Swans into a 1-0 half-time lead, collecting a pass from Wilfried Bony before firing beyond Eagles goalkeeper Julian Speroni.

Garry Monk's men would have doubled their advantage before the interval if not for the intervention of Speroni, who produced a superb save to deny Bony.

Yannick Bolasie spurned a good opportunity to equalise midway through the second half, pulling his effort wide of Michel Vorm's goal.

Chico Flores was given his marching orders on 82 minutes for hauling down Murray inside the area, before the 30-year-old kept his composure to slot the resulting penalty and earn a valuable point for Palace in their quest to remain in the Premier League.
