Queens Park Rangers, Swansea City play out draw

A Wilfried Bony strike in injury time gives Swansea City a 1-1 draw away at Queens Park Rangers in Thursday afternoon's Premier League clash at Loftus Road.

A Wilfried Bony strike in injury time has given Swansea City a 1-1 draw away at Queens Park Rangers in this afternoon's Premier League clash at Loftus Road.

The hosts were let off in the opening stages when Wayne Routledge's dinked shot was saved by Robert Green outside his area, with the referee failing to notice the transgression.

Harry Redknapp's side then went on to take the lead in the 21st minute, Leroy Fer latching on to a poor headed clearance by Federico Fernandez before lashing a half-volley into the net from just outside the box.

Bobby Zamora missed a decent opening in the 22nd minute when the forward was picked out in the middle by Eduardo Vargas's cross from the right, but he headed the ball over the bar.

Just before the half-hour mark, Nathan Dyer fed the ball through to the unmarked Bafetimbi Gomis, who fired a vicious shot wide of the far post.

With seven minutes left to play in the first half, Mauricio Isla let fly with a well-struck effort, but Lukasz Fabianski was able to get down and palm the ball clear, before Zamora was judged to be offside as he attempted to convert the rebound.

Vargas then caused further trouble moments before first-half injury time as his shot cannoned off the Swansea post, while a few minutes after the restart, Charlie Austin came close when his header hit the post and Fer curled in a strike from outside the box that deflected inches over the bar.

Soon enough, chances began coming thick and fast as both sides stepped up their attacking intent, though Swansea found themselves with a mountain to climb when Routledge was sent off in the 86th minute for fighting.

This mattered little, however, as Bony earned his side a draw in injury time when he was picked out by Ki Sung-yeung, before turning and firing a strike past Green.
