Michael Laudrup: "We need goals"

Michael Laudrup reveals that he is looking to add some players capable of scoring goals to his squad this summer.

New Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has revealed that he is looking to sign players capable of scoring goals this summer.

The Swans had hoped to conclude a deal for attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, who netted seven goals during a six-month loan spell at the Liberty Stadium last season.

However, the Icelandic midfielder now appears to be keen on joining former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.

As a result, the new manager has confirmed that attacking transfer targets are currently dominating his thoughts.

"If Sigurdsson leaves, we will need an attacking midfielder but, more than that position, we need goals," he told the South Wales Evening Post. "We have to look at the players we have got and know more or less how many goals they will guarantee.

"You have to reach a certain number of goals otherwise you have to defend very, very well.

"If you lose a player who scores seven, eight or nine goals, you have to find another one."

Danny Graham was Swansea's leading goalscorer last year with 12 Premier League goals.
