Ryan Giggs declares interest in vacant Wales job

Former Manchester United and Wales winger Ryan Giggs admits that he is interested in replacing Chris Coleman as Dragons manager.

Ryan Giggs has declared a firm interest in becoming the next head coach of Wales.

The Dragons are currently on the lookout for a new manager following Chris Coleman's departure from the role.

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) hopes to have appointed a successor in time for the draw for the Nations League on January 24.

Former Manchester United winger Giggs has joined ex-international teammates John Hartson and Craig Bellamy, plus Coleman's assistant Osian Roberts, in putting his name forward for the job.

"Of course I'm interested," Giggs told Sky Sports News. "I've not spoken to anyone at the moment but I'd definitely be interested.

"I've played for Wales and I've said that I want to go back into coaching. Obviously that is one of the top jobs. I played for United; I played for Wales."

The 44-year-old, who scored 12 times in 64 Wales appearances between 1991 and 2007, had a four-game spell in interim charge of United, before spending two years as Louis van Gaal's assistant at Old Trafford.
