Sean Dyche has "fond memories" of Watford reign

Burnley manager Sean Dyche insists that his departure from Watford was 'just business' as his promotion-chasing Clarets prepare to face his former club at Vicarage Road.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has insisted that his departure from Watford was 'just business' as he prepares to face his former club on Saturday afternoon.

The promotion-chasing Clarets can move one step closer to a return to the Premier League with victory over the midtable Hornets at Vicarage Road.

Dyche began his managerial career at Watford before they terminated his contract in the summer of 2012, but the 42-year-old has stressed that he holds no hard feelings towards his old employers.

"I didn't want it to not work out right there, it's just the nature of the job," Dyche told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"When I came out of Watford I wasn't throwing my dummy out. It was a business change, that's all it is and I had to be realistic about it. It's just part of the job.

"I have fond memories. I had a good time there. I was player, captain, youth coach, reserve team/development coach, assistant manager and manager so of course I had a real connection with the club."

Burnley are seven points ahead of third-placed Queens Park Rangers with seven games of the season remaining.
