Quique Flores reveals disagreements with board led to Watford exit

Quique Flores reveals that disagreements between himself and the board led to his departure as Watford manager.

Quique Flores has confirmed that disagreements between himself and the board have led to his departure as Watford manager.

The club announced this morning that the Spaniard will leave at the end of the season after just one campaign in charge.

Flores managed to comfortably keep the Hornets in the top flight following the club's promotion last season, and he also guided the team to an FA Cup semi-final.

The 51-year-old has insisted that he was "happy" at Watford, but differences over the direction of the club have ultimately resulted in his exit.

"The club and I don't have the same point of view of the season, so we have the conditions to activate the clause in my contract," Flores told reporters in Friday's press conference.

"[I had an] amazing feeling with the fans - I love the Watford fans. I've been happy this year. I enjoyed the experience. We have lots of reasons to be happy because we enjoyed this amazing journey. It will be a really emotional final game with the Watford fans."

Flores will sign off on Sunday as Watford take on Sunderland at Vicarage Road.
