West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that Chris Brunt will miss this summer's Euro 2016 with a knee injury.
The Northern Ireland international sustained the complaint during the weekend's 3-2 win over Crystal Palace.
A scan revealed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament, which forced the midfielder to undergo reconstructive surgery that has sidelined him for at least six months.
"It's a big blow for Chris and everyone is feeling for him right now," head coach Tony Pulis told the club's official website.
"It will be disappointing for us not to have him for the rest of the season because he is a terrific player who gives the team great balance.
"But obviously it is made even more cruel because it has denied him a career highlight with Northern Ireland this summer."
Brunt, 31, has made over 300 appearances for the Baggies since his arrival from Sheffield Wednesday in 2007.
