West Bromwich Albion's assistant head coach Kevin Keen has insisted that everybody connected with the club is pleased that Shane Long did not join Hull City on transfer deadline day.

The Baggies accepted a bid from their fellow Premier League outfit at the start of the month, but the move fell through late on due a disagreement between the two clubs.

However, with Long expected to feature for West Brom for the first time against Arsenal this evening since the saga, Keen has praised the Republic of Ireland international for the attitude that he has shown to his work.

"He's come in and got on with his work. If anything, there has been a positive reaction in his training. It's been at a really high level," the Express & Star quotes Keen as saying.

"He's a top lad and is very much part of our thinking going forward. I don't think there will be any problem with Shane. I think he's raring to go to show people he really wants to score some goals.

"Steve Clarke has made it clear Shane's a massive part of this club. We're delighted he's still here and still part of West Bromwich Albion. I'm sure he will score goals this season and play a massive part in us progressing."

Long has spent the past couple of weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury.
