Hello, and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of the match in the Premier League between Watford and West Bromwich Albion.

A Premier League match between Watford and West Bromwich Albion is perceived as your run-of-the-mill mid-table fixture, and that is generally the case when you reach this stage of the season. However, the stakes remain high for both clubs and both will be keen to get points on the board this evening.

From Watford's perspective, they are looking to keep well away from the relegation zone. They are currently seven points clear of 18th-place Hull City but while maintaining that gap is achievable, Walter Mazzarri will also be looking for results in order to safeguard his future at the club.

As for West Brom, they sit just six points adrift of Everton in the race for seventh place and victory this evening - combined with a defeat for the Toffees at Manchester United - would halve the deficit and leaves the Baggies with the momentum heading into the remaining eight games.

Anyway, without further ado, let's crack on with the team news which is emerging from Vicarage Road. Does Troy Deeney - Watford's captain and reported West Brom target - make his return to the starting lineup?

First of all, let's take a look at the Watford side and Deeney does indeed feature in the starting XI. The Hornets got the job done without him against Sunderland at the weekend, but he is most definitely a big plus for Mazzarri this evening. Stefano Okaka drops down to the substitutes' bench, which includes Dion Pereira for the first time.

As for West Brom, Hal Robson-Kanu gets the nod in attack and the rest of the team named by Tony Pulis as expected. The main talking point is the return to the bench for Matt Phillips, who has missed the last five games through injury. I would expect to see him at some stage this evening.

HEAD TO HEAD! Tonight's fixture represents the 39th time in which these two teams have faced each other in a competitive fixture, with West Brom claiming 18 win in comparison to 11 victories for Watford. The three most recent fixtures have come in the Premier League but before that, the two clubs met regularly in the Football League. The last three meetings have produced three different outcomes.

The reverse fixture took place at The Hawthorns in December, with West Brom running out 3-1 victors. They were aided by the sending off of Roberto Pereyra but the Baggies were full value for their win. Click here for the on-the-whistle report from that game.

Back then, West Brom moved into sixth place in the table but rather than be criticised for dropping down two positions to eighth, Pulis and his players deserve enormous praise for maintaining hope of a European adventure next season. They are effectively topping a "best of the rest" table by eight points and after picking up four points from games with Arsenal and Manchester United, who knows what they are capable of during the closing weeks of the season.

From Watford's perspective, there won't be many people associated with the club who will be unhappy with another mid-table finish which comes with the alarm of relegation, but the Hornets board showed last season that they are prepared to change managers should significant progress not be made. Quique Sanchez Flores was sacked after a similar finish in the table - as well as a semi-final place in the FA Cup - so Mazzarri really cannot afford to allow his side to lack motivation if and when they secure their top-flight status. You get the impression that only a top-half finish may be good enough.

While West Brom are performing well on a consistent basis this season, they still only have three wins and 12 points from 15 games on the road. It's a poor return and Pulis probably rues the fact that it is costing them sitting much closer to the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton.

Watford's home record isn't great either, but there is at least some respectability with 22 points from 15 home fixtures. However,they would find themselves in ninth with just one more win at Vicarage Road. It's very small margins.

PREDICTION! I think we will see a few goals tonight. West Brom don't have anything to lose by pushing for three points tonight, and Watford need to take advantage of home games such as this one. We are going to go for a 2-2 draw.

Watford get this game started.

It's been a relatively quiet start at Vicarage Road but Capoue has showed some attacking intent for the home side before being fouled by Livermore. The midfielder scored a number of goals at the start of the season but he hasn't been able to carry that on throughout the campaign.

CHANCE! The first real chance of the game falls to West Brom's Chadli, who forces a solid save out of Gomes. However, the goalkeeper makes a bit of a meal of it before Chadli sends the rebound over the crossbar.

No more chances to speak of at Vicarage Road, and there hasn't been any goals in the other 7.45pm kickoffs. Manchester United against Everton is just about to start. We will keep you up-to-date with that one as the goals go in.

Watford take the lead and it's a stunning effort from Niang. The attacker cut inside from the left before directing a right-footed effort into the far corner. Foster could do very little with that.

That was Niang's second goal since signing on loan from AC Milan. I suspect that Watford may want to make that a permanent deal in the summer. Watford are very much in the ascendancy now.

It's all gone a bit quiet at Vicarage Road. Watford are still having the better of the play but West Brom don't look overawed after conceding that goal to Niang. What they can't afford to do is sit too deep and it's so far so good on that front.

There's talk of Robson-Kanu being offered a new contract by West Brom but he is making just his fourth Premier League start for the Baggies this evening. He's not had much of an impact in this match, aside from a header which went well wide.

Watford have earned a corner during the last few minutes but it came to nothing. The Hornets are generally a big side but so are West Brom - it will take some delivery to breach the Albion defence from a set piece.

We haven't spoken about the Vicarage Road return of Allan Nyom. He played 37 times for the Hornets last season before West Brom paid £3m for his signature. He hasn't really been in the game aside from one surging run down the flank. We are half-an-hour through this one now. It's not been the greatest match so far.

It's been a while since West Brom showed much in the final third but a free kick from Brunt causes a bit of panic inside the Watford penalty area. Gomes was able to clear but it wasn't that convincing.

There has been a goal at Old Trafford and it has gone to Everton! Phil Jagielka, of all people, with the goal. That's not what West Brom fans wanted to hear!

BOOKING! Britos concedes a foul around 25 yards from goal by hauling down Robson-Kanu. It also brings him a booking.

WOODWORK! West Brom won't come much closer to an equaliser tonight. Chadli's free kick from distance beats Gomes all ends up but it clips the woodwork and goes behind.

BOOKING! Robson-Kanu quickly follows Britos into the referee's notebook after pulling down Holebas.

There will be two minutes of added-on time.

SUBSTITUTION! There's a late change in the first half for Watford. Prodl is being forced off injured and he will be replaced by Daryl Janmaat.

BOOKING! We are still going in this first half and McClean has been booked for tripping Holebas.

The half-time whistle goes at Vicarage Road and Watford lead thanks to that excellent strike from Niang early in the game. Neither side have offered much since that goal but the visitors did hit the post through Chadli.

There's a change for the Baggies at the break. Matt Phillips is being introduced for McClean.

West Brom get us back underway.

SHOT! There's already more urgency about West Brom. Brunt sends a rasping effort high over the crossbar from 30 yards.

Watford are fully in control of this match now. Niang turns provider with a sublime through-ball to Deeney and after he knocks it past the advancing Foster, he is able to tap into an empty net. He just loves scoring at Vicarage Road.

The Baggies had come out for the restart on the front foot but that second goal has knocked the wind out of their sails. It's a well-made goal but Pulis won't be happy. As it stands, they are going nine points behind Everton.

SUBSTITUTION! Pulis decides to change things up further with the introduction of James Morrison for McAuley. Salomon Rondon is also warming up.

CHANCE! Baggies should be halving the deficit here. The majority of their opportunities are falling to Chadli but he can't get on the scoresheet. On this occasion, Brunt found him at the back post but he could not hit the target.

BOOKING! Livermore becomes the third Baggies player to be booked. It's Holebas who was fouled, again. That's all three cautions he has been involved in.

SUBSTITUTION! Here comes Rondon, who replaces Livermore. Rondon is yet to score a Premier League goal this year...

If the game continues along this path, the only consolation for West Brom will be if Manchester United can pull off a comeback against Everton. It remains 1-0 to the visitors.

RED CARD! Britos has been sent off for a second yellow card! He has been adjudged to have fouled Rondon. Now then, is this game on?

Since the dismissal, West Brom have won a succession of corners but to their credit, Watford defended them well.

Mazzarri has decided to introduced Adrian Mariappa for Amrabat.

CHANCE! As you would expect, Watford are placing more emphasis on defending now but it is only inviting pressure. Rondon thinks he is going to at least Gomes after meeting a cross from Brunt but he can't find the target. Not long for West Brom to get back into this now.

SUBSTITUTION! Mazzarri decides to make a change further forward, with Isaac Success replacing the impressive Niang.

BOOKING! Another booking for West Brom, this time for Hornets old boy Nyom. The Baggies could do with another chance, not another card. Time is running out. Watford look comfortable.

There's not much coming from either side now. I think Watford are going to see this though without having to show a resolute side to their game.

CHANCE! Morrison sends a late opening wide of the post after being teed up by Rondon. That should be about it as far as the action is concerned.

The full-time whistle goes at Vicarage Road and Watford have recorded a deserved 2-0 win over West Brom. Niang was the star of the show with a goal and an assist, but the visitors did not do enough to claim a share of the spoils. Everton are also going to get something from Old Trafford so it's been a bad night for Pulis's side.
