Pardew: 'Baggies must fight like hell'

Alan Pardew acknowledges that West Bromwich Albion will have to "fight like hell" to get something out of their Premier League trip to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Alan Pardew has admitted that West Bromwich Albion will have to "fight like hell" to get something out of their trip to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The Baggies are still looking for their first victory under their new manager and have gone 15 games in total without a win, equalling the club record set in 1995-96.

Liverpool, however, are unbeaten in 10 matches in all competitions and have gone 14 games without defeat at Anfield, as well as having netted 63 goals in their 25 competitive games this season.

"It's a game that you have to look forward to as players because it is a venue and stadium you dream of playing at when you're growing up," Pardew told Sky Sports News.

"Having said that we are in a situation where we need points, and as much as we need to enjoy Wednesday, we need to fight like hell to get something out of the game.

"If you're a manager and you've got players like [Emre] Can, [Georginio] Wijnaldum and [Daniel] Sturridge who can't even get in the team then you're in a very decent position offensively.

"I don't think anyone would argue that is their strength - with the ball, with their attacking players - but they do have weaknesses and it's whether you can exploit them. That's what we have got to try and do."

Albion's only Premier League away win in 17 attempts this calendar year came at Burnley in August.
