Report: Matt Phillips is a summer target for West Bromwich Albion

Southampton face competition from West Bromwich Albion for winger Matt Phillips, according to reports.

West Bromwich Albion will battle with Southampton for the signature of Queens Park Rangers winger Matt Phillips, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has been in impressive form in the second half of the season, and is expected to leave the club if they get relegated to the Championship.

The Mirror reports that West Brom are plotting a move for Phillips at the end of the season after initially failing with a move in January.

However, Southampton remain keen and see Phillips as an ideal replacement for Eljero Elia, whose loan deal expires this summer.

Phillips joined QPR from Blackpool in 2013.
