Sam Allardyce: 'Andy Carroll could be out for two weeks'

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce confirms that Andy Carroll could miss two weeks after injuring his knee in the draw with Southampton.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Andy Carroll could be out for up to a fortnight after injuring his knee in the goalless draw with Southampton.

Despite staying on until the final whistle following his introduction from the bench in the 55th minute, Carroll was in discomfort as he battled with a problem in the knee that he has already injured this season.

"The sad thing is the injury to Andy Carroll," the Hammers boss told reporters after the game.

"It was the same knee - took a kick took a kick onto it and we hope that staying on hasn't done any more damage. It could be two weeks that he is out. We've got three goal scorers there so I'm not too concerned."

Carroll was forced to leave the ground on crutches following a draw which leaves West Ham in eighth spot.
