West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has told his players that their careers are "in jeopardy" as a result of Tuesday's Capital One Cup defeat to Wigan Athletic.
Despite taking the lead at Upton Park, the Hammers were soundly beaten 4-1 by the Latics in the third round of the competition.
"I just don't accept what happened in any shape or form and the players are putting their West Ham careers in jeopardy," Allardyce wrote in the Evening Standard.
"What really disappoints me is that, after all the hard work we put in during pre-season and such a fantastic start, we offered up a performance like that."
West Ham continue their Premier League campaign on Monday when they make the short trip to London neighbours Queens Park Rangers.
