Slaven Bilic has said that he was pleased with the way that his West Ham United team performed against an Aston Villa side that played much of the contest at Upton Park this evening with a man light.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men in just the 17th minute when Jordan Ayew elbowed West Ham full-back Aaron Cresswell in the face.
It took the Hammers until the 58th minute to break the deadlock, but once they did, the game was in their control and they eventually ran out 2-0 winners
"I've seen many times that a team that has one player more can't find a solution, are more nervous and concede a goal," Bilic told BBC Sport.
"It wasn't the case tonight. In the second half we played the way a team should against 10 men.
"We could have scored earlier but then we scored with a great goal and after that it was much easier."
Next up for Bilic's men is a trip to Southampton on Monday night.
