Kevin Nolan praises West Ham United response against Sunderland

West Ham captain Kevin Nolan hails his team for coming from behind to draw with Sunderland.

West Ham United captain Kevin Nolan has praised his side for fighting back to draw at Sunderland in the Premier League.

The Hammers earned a point at the Stadium of Light on Saturday as Stewart Downing equalised after Jordi Gomez had given the hosts the lead with a controversial penalty.

Despite questioning the performance of the officials, Nolan believes that West Ham did well to come away with a share of the spoils.

"All in all you've got to respect the point when you get it," he told the club's official website. "You're never going to get an easy game when you come away from home. I'm just a bit gutted that we had to come from behind and through no fault of our own.

"We're a bit disappointed with a few major decisions that didn't go our way, especially the penalty, which got their spirits up. The response from us was fantastic, again, and we could have gone on to win it."

Saturday's draw has kept West Ham in fourth place in the Premier League table.
